Swing Report www.chartguys.com/swingreport

**July 13, 2026**

Good Morning Rnd91,

Here is the news affecting the markets this week, and what to look forward to in the week ahead.

Tensions once again rose over the weekend around the Strait of Hormuz. Instability remains in the region and despite all the discussions about peace talks, ongoing air and drone strikes continue. Oil is trading higher as a result, up 3.5+% over the weekend. President Trump reiterated early this morning that the Strait remains a priority for the United States.

The main story in volatility in the past few weeks in the market has been the wild swings in the Korean Index KOSPI. Trading down now 27% after a whopping 122% performance from January to June. The rapid swings come from a very heavily weighted index in volatile memory chip stocks, with the top ten holdings of the index accounting for 76% of its funds, and top two companies accounting for 63+% of its pot.

The concentration of stocks, plus their highly volatile nature due to incredible percent gains in the memory space, is leading to constant volatile fluctuations in the KOSPI, and bleeding over into the volatility of the semiconductor sector in the US. SK Hynix ($SKHY), one of the main driving contributors of KOSPI, opened on the US exchange Friday which will initially contribute to even more volatility in the space.

Second quarter earnings reports start this week with a heavy start to bank earnings as early as Tuesday premarket, with heavy hitters Goldman Sachs ($GS), JP Morgan ($JPM), Citibank ($C) and Wells Fargo ($WFC) all reporting the same morning. The banks focussed fund $XLF is currently trading just under its new all time highs set last week, with $GS being one of the most notable runs in the sector this year.

Netflix, a lead tech sector bear in the last year will start off the tech sector earnings late in the week.

As always, trade with discipline, and have a great week.
